Chief of Staff
Location: Portland, Maine (Hybrid +50% in office, potential short business trips 2x per quarter)
Reports to: CEO
Role Overview
Retego is in the process of acquiring a new marketing data business and is hiring a Chief of Staff (CoS) to optimize operations, enhance internal knowledge-sharing, and co-manage a strategic relationship—allowing the CEO to focus on marketing, product, mentoring, and recruiting.
The Chief of Staff will be a force multiplier for the CEO, handling day-to-day operations, process documentation, and administrative functions while ensuring that the team is well-supported. This role is not a management layer but a strategic enabler who helps the company deliver excellent operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of operational and administrative tasks from the CEO
- Act as a thought partner to the CEO, helping refine priorities and remove roadblocks
- Co-manage a strategic supplier relationship and maintain clear communications with the partner
- Develop and document workflows to improve efficiency and customer value
- Lead implementation of AI to automate and enhance internal processes
- Define tasks and manage projects without displacing leadership roles
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in business operations, project management, or Chief of Staff-type roles
- Prefer work experience in direct marketing or SaaS for a remote-first company
- Excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence
- Very strong organizational skills and high comfort working with web-based tools
- Self-starter with a bias for action and problem-solving
